Irene started Pilates in her late 40’s to repair a shoulder injury. It so profoundly changed her life that she continued her Pilates education and prepared to share it with others. Irene was trained as a student and teacher by Joseph Tatta of Premier Physical Therapy in New York in the classic Pilates Method and has been teaching since 2001. She spent 30 years in the financial markets and banking industry before moving to Portland in 2006. The happy combination of Pilates and business knowledge gave rise to Spring.

Heather was certified in the classic Pilates Method by Romana Kryzanowska in 2000. Since then, she has accumulated extensive teaching experience with Mari Winsor of Winsor Pilates (performing in Mari Winsor’s advanced Pilates video series), Siri Dharma of Live Art Pilates, and Adylia Roman, UCLA Athletic Trainer. Heather has a certification in AIS (Active Isolated Stretching) and incorporates it successfully into her work with clients who have lost flexibility through injury or inactivity. Heather sees Pilates as “therapy” for every person and works in the belief that it can change one’s life through movement.

Lisa came to Pilates as a young athlete searching for a workout that would keep her at peak performance and prevent injuries, while she was having fun and staying in good shape. She discovered a profound affinity for the Pilates Method and, after several years of practice, decided that she wanted to share Pilates with others. After receiving certification in the Classical Pilates Method in 2006, Lisa has worked extensively at a number of studios in Los Angeles and Portland. Lisa has also been consistently involved in the traditional fine arts pursuing her own creative activities and teaching others.

PILATES INSTRUCTOR

Kirsten is a dancer, choreographer and graduate of San Francisco State University and Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Her life in the modern dance world prompted her to seek an exercise regimen to maintain optimal muscle and joint health and reduce professional time lost to injury. She was certified in the Pilates Method by Power Pilates, NYC, and has been teaching since 2005 in New York City and internationally at academic institutions, studios, fitness centers, and to professional dance companies. Having taught Pilates to people from all walks of life, Kirsten has experienced and witnessed its power in injury recovery and pain reduction, its injury prevention capabilities and the improvement it makes in daily physical life for all. She likes Pilates because it works!

PILATES INSTRUCTOR

Mary is a Pilates Method Alliance Gold-Certified Pilates instructor and a Biodynamic Cranial-Sacral Therapist. Mary studied Pilates with Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics and with Dianne Miller, Vancouver, BC.. For 7 years in Singapore, she was a seminal figure in cultivating the Pilates population. She brings to Spring her extensive work from other fields: Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, tai chi, chi gong and dance. As a movement artist, performer, body worker and teacher in her fields, she has worked with many populations in rehabilitation, fitness and performance enhancement since 1993.
